Surface Renew Inc. is a specialty tradesman company specializing in bathtub refinishing in Little Rock, AR. The company began in April, 2004. Services include repairing, resurfacing and refinishing bath tubs, wall and counter tile surfaces, showers, sinks and counter tops. In 2019 Surface Renew expanded into concrete floor polishing. Now in addition to tile resurfacing they also offer floor polishing Little Rock services including  polished concrete, natural stone restoration and maintenance, and concrete leveling services.

Bob Kennedy, Owner

Founded by Bob Kennedy, a local Maumelle Arkansas resident who had invested in a 26 unit apartment complex. Like most property owners, Bob was taking steps to improve the property. Because creating a better living environment for his tenants was his primary goal.

Bob shares his personal experience prior to going pro:

“One thing that came with the property was UGLY bathtubs. The cost to replace them was beyond my reach so I began looking for alternatives. I found 6 bathtub refinishing companies in the area and called them all.  Only 3 called me back; just 1 actually showed up for the job and he didn’t want to do my tubs because they were too much work. 

I HAD to do something with these tubs and was frustrated I couldn’t find an expert to help me.  So I did more research and found a company that would take me and one other person for an entire week of classroom AND train me on how to do this process. 

My extensive training opened my eyes to the many benefits and refinishing services I could offer residents and investors in Arkansas. Furthermore, I learned about resurfacing tiles, plastics, bath sinks & vanities, kitchen counter-tops, and even flooring.

It was then I saw a huge market need to fill with prompt, professional service in Arkansas. With the right equipment and chemicals coupled with my thorough technician training I could save investors, home owners, property managers, hotels, and anyone else with a bathroom or kitchen lots of time and money!

Ryan Schatz, Co-Owner

Ryan Schatz partnered with Bob at Surface Renew, Inc. in 2008 after a 15-year career in the concrete industry. In his family’s ready-mix business, he worked every aspect of concrete from loading the trucks up to sales and service. After high school, Ryan attended the University of Arkansas where he studied business and participated in intra-mural sports.

Ryan serves as the company’s Vice President and heads up sales and operations. He oversees our newest area: Concrete and natural stone floor polishing.

Currently Ryan is on the school board, coaches little league baseball, and volunteers for Delta Water Fowl.

Sam Gray, Operations Manager and Trainer

Sam Gray is our Quality Manager and Trainer for all of our locations. He has been a part of the Surface Renew team since 2008.

Following high school, Sam enlisted in the Marines where he served 4 years Active Duty including a tour to the Middle East to support the 1st Gulf War in the early 1990’s. He also served 2 years in Reserves. Due to his strong work ethic Sam attained the rank of Sergeant before his discharge. After leaving the military he assumed various leadership roles in several companies including: General Manager at Car Mart, and Branch Manager at Orkin Pest Control.

Sam is an avid Razorback fan and enjoys riding his motorcycle in his off time.
