With proper care, your new surface finish will last 10-15 years or longer. The glazing compound we use on ceramic tile is extremely hard and durable. However, as you might expect, improper care, higher-use areas, and excessive moisture may experience a reduction in lifespan.

How do you clean a refinished tile surface?

For regular cleaning, use a mild non-abrasive liquid cleaner and water and a soft wash cloth or a sponge. If the cleaning tool is safe for Teflon surfaces then it’s okay for your refinished tile surface too.

But the process is the same: For residential services, we come to your home and, after a deep cleaning of the areas of interest, spray and bond a thin opaque coat of glossy enamel on the tile surfaces. We can do the sink, tub, shower and countertops too. This process completely transforms the room from old, dull and drab to new, modern, and fabulous in a matter of hours.

The new surface coating is sprayed using an HVLP (High Pressure Low Volume) spray system. This type of system enables us to provide a smooth finish that looks like new. When doing tile walls, we are actually spraying over the grout as well as the tile. It’s only a few millimeters thick, so the grooves won’t be filled in. This means both grout and tile will end up one uniform color AND more importantly, the porous grout will not we permanently sealed making it much more difficult for mold and mildew to invade.

Typically, it takes less than a day to complete our process and then you need to let it cure for 10 hours for our solid colors.

Similar to ceramic tile refinishing is tub refinishing. It’s the same type of process but onto a tub instead of ceramic tile. You may have heard people call it tub reglazing. Tub reglazing is the same thing as bathtub refinishing, just a different name for it. Cast iron tubs are also good candidates for tub refinishing.

So basically yes, it is worth refinishing if your tub is in good working condition and you like the overall style of it. Just like porcelain and ceramic tile refinishing, the process can fill in surface imperfections, like scratches, shallow cracks, and even cover stains. Even if your tub or shower is old, dirty, leaking, or full of mold, we can still repair and refinish it to look like new again.

Can you refinish ceramic tile yourself?

Short answer is yes, you can refinish your tile yourself. But only if you’re ready to take on a big project that involves a steep learning curve, a high risk of ruining an expensive to replace fixture, and working directly with dangerous caustic chemicals.

Also consider that since DIY tile refinishing kits are inferior to the products we use, then even the best technician will get questionable results with substandard materials. It is a far cheaper and an easier option to enjoy a professional porcelain and ceramic tile refinishing service.
